Overview
LiveSocket (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates livesocket.com — a small, handmade laser-engraving storefront based in Boerne, Texas. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We try to keep it short and honest.
What we collect
We collect only the information needed to run the business — to ship you an order, respond to a custom-order request, or help a corporate buyer plan a bulk run. Our forms collect:
- Corporate / wholesale inquiries (submitted via /wholesale):
company_name,contact_name,email, the item(s) you’re interested in (item_interest), anticipatedquantity_tier, yourtarget_delivery_date, free-formnotes, and the originating product (if you started from a product page). These fields are persisted to thecorporate_inquiriestable and trigger an email notification to our team. - Custom-order requests (submitted via /custom-order):
name, email, optionalphoneandcompany_name, the inquiry type, the product you’re asking about, quantity, free-form description, optional budget, and timeline. These are persisted to theorder_inquiriestable. - Analytics events (sent to PostHog): page views, product views, Stripe-payment-link clicks, and inquiry submissions. These are recorded server-side; bot traffic is filtered out before recording.
How we handle payment information
Payments for in-stock orders are processed by Stripe through per-product payment links. Card and bank details never touch LiveSocket servers. Stripe is the processor of record for those transactions and is responsible for its own privacy and security practices; please review Stripe’s privacy policy for how they handle your payment data.
For corporate and custom orders, no payment data is collected through our forms — we follow up with an invoice or a separate payment link once a quote is accepted.
Analytics
We use PostHog to understand which pages and products people find useful. Specifically:
- Page-view events are captured only on whitelisted public pages, and known bot user-agents are filtered out before any event is recorded.
- IP addresses are hashed (SHA-256, truncated to 16 hex characters) before they reach the analytics store — we store a fingerprint rather than your real address.
- A random, anonymous
ls_sessionidentifier is written to your browser’slocalStoragethe first time you visit. It carries no personal information, and you can clear it at any time from your browser settings.
Communications & opting out
Transactional email — order updates, wholesale follow-ups, replies to your custom-order inquiry — is sent through our transactional email provider so we can reliably reach your inbox. These messages are tied to something you did on the site and cannot be opted out of while the transaction is open; once your order or inquiry is closed you can request that we delete the conversation record.
You may opt out of marketing email or SMS at any time by replying STOP to any SMS message, clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or emailing jkinter@livesocket.com. Transactional messages related to open orders and inquiries are not optional.
As our business grows, bulk and marketing email/SMS will be sent through Mailgun. Marketing messages sent that way will include a working List-Unsubscribe header in compliance with RFC 8058, plus a visible unsubscribe link in the message body. You will never need to log into an account to opt out.
Data retention
- Corporate & order inquiries: kept while the inquiry is active and for a reasonable period afterward so we can honor reprints, warranty claims, and reorders — typically 24 months from the last contact.
- Analytics events: retained on a rolling basis and aggregated over time; we do not retain identifiable IP addresses at the raw level because they are hashed on the way in.
- Product images: stored in our object storage (R2 / Cloudflare) and referenced from the catalog while the product remains active.
You can ask us to delete your inquiry record at any time by emailing jkinter@livesocket.com.
Third-party processors we use
- Stripe — payment processing for in-stock orders.
- PostHog — product analytics.
- Neon / PostgreSQL — our application database, hosted on Neon.
- Cloud object storage (e.g. Cloudflare R2 / Amazon S3) — hosted product photography.
- Mailgun — (forthcoming) bulk and marketing email/SMS sending.
- Transactional email provider (e.g. Resend) — transactional email delivery.
Each of these processors receives only the information it needs to do its job.
Children’s privacy
LiveSocket is a small business storefront and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Our comic-fair demo format may attract family audiences, but any form submission is expected to come from a parent, planner, or adult buyer.
Your rights & contact
If you live in California, Colorado, Virginia, or any other jurisdiction with a data-rights law, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what we have on file about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your information.
- Opt out of any future marketing contact.
Reach out at jkinter@livesocket.com and we’ll respond within a reasonable time, typically within a few business days.
